Walter Mecklenburg, 1909-1947 Administrator in the "Jewish Department" of the Hamburg Gestapo Walter Mecklenburg was born on 28 July 1909 in Wandsbek. It is not known how long Kriminalsekretär Walter Mecklenburg was a member of the Hamburg Gestapo's "Jewish Department". However, records show that he participated in the 1942 deportations of Hamburg's Jews. After the end of the war, Mecklenburg was taken into Danish custody, and died on 8 March 1947 in the prison at Esbjerg.
