Aethiopica

In the need of an academic periodical for minor non-monographic scholarly publications, in 1998 Siegbert Uhlig, in cooperation with a number of colleagues (Bairu Tafla, Ulrich Braukämper, Ludwig Gerhardt, Hilke Meyer Bahlburg, Veronika Six, Stefan Weninger) the Aethiopica. International Journal of Ethiopian and Eritrean Studies, published by the Harrassowitz Verlag. In 2009 Alessandro Bausi became the journal's editor-in-chief.

An issue of ca. 300 pages each appears yearly and contains articles, miscellanea, personalia, review articles and reviews as well as dissertation abstracts.

The contributions, composed in German, English, French or Italian, cover the academic range from linguistic studies and palaeography to philology and art history, from history and archaeology to religion studies, from ethnology to political science and sociology. So far authors from over 25 countries have contributed to the journal's academic discussion.

Starting with May 2012, the Aethiopica journal is available online.
