Technical notes

Contributors are requested to submit manuscripts in the form of a printout and a diskette. Contributions per e-mail will not be accepted. Information of Aethiopica can be found at http://www.rrz.uni-hamburg.de/AETHIOPICA.

We recommend that authors present the articles in English. In all cases, please include a short summary (12-15 lines) in English.

We request you to draw the attention of the editors to any information related to newly published books and articles, completed dissertations and recent conferences. Mark off please very clearly Oriental scripts like Ethiopic, Arabic, Greek, Hebrew, etc. We have decided on the following transliteration of Ethiopic.

Ethiopic-transliteration

For the design and production of the manuscript, the usual rules are applicable:

  1. Please prepare your manuscript throughout in double line spacing.
  2. Use only internationally recognized acronyms.
  3. Pay attention to the uniform arrangement of your manuscript.
  4. Words and phrases selected to be distinct should be in bold or in italics; other ways of marking for distinction or emphasis (such as underlining, etc.) should be avoided.
  5. The bibliographical references should be made in the form of the following examples:
    1. WOLF LESLAU, Comparative Dictionary of Ge‘ez (Wiesbaden 1987) 4f.;
    2. JOSEPH HARTMANN, Amharische Grammatik = Äthiopistische Forschungen 3 (Wiesbaden 1980) 52-55 [= Series, Festschrift, etc.];
    3. EDWARD ULLENDORFF, Two Ethiopic dirges on the deaths of Queen Anne (1714) and Queen Mary (1694) = Journal of the Royal Asiatic Society ser. 3,6 (1996) 4
      [= Articles]; and at the end of the articles, in the following way:
      LESLAU , WOLF, Comparative Dictionary of Ge‘ez (Wiesbaden 1987) 4f.; etc.
      In the case of long articles, it is recommended to make a list of sources.
  6. Where special items to be printed are included (such as e.g. illustrations, tables), we would like you to draw our attention to them clearly.

The editorial management reserves the right to change or modify the format of the contributions.

Contributions should be submitted in a form ready for the printer; later corrections can be accepted only at the Editors' decision and may incur a charge to the author. Authors will receive page proofs.

Authors are requested to send diskette and printout of all contributions giving details of the wordprocessing software used (e.g. WordPerfect, Word, Microsoft Word).
